Intent

To enable individuals to apply for a UK passport, verifying identity so a secure and lawful travel document can be issued in line with passport legislation.  

Interaction

An individual applies for a UK passport, including first-time applications, renewals, and urgent services. HMPO receives and processes the application, verifies identity, validates supporting documents, and conducts interviews where required. Applications are assessed against legal requirements to prevent identity fraud and ensure passports are issued to eligible individuals. Guidance and support are provided to help applicants complete the process accurately.
